Beaches
One of the main attractions for visitors from Conil, El Palmar to Caños de Meca are the fine white sand beaches - from wide zones to romantic, small and dreamy coves.
They extend for about 14 km along a natural dune landscape. Many of them are hidden between rocks and cliffs, from where you can see the sun diving into the clear water in the evening. We would like to present some of our favorite beaches here.
Playa El Palmar
El Palmar beach is one of the most interesting and impressive beaches on the entire Costa de la Luz. It is more than 6 kilometers long and 60 meters wide on average. With its white sand and crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean, it invites you to swim and do water sports. Among surfers it is considered the best beach break in Andalusia. Very attractive is also its environment: the very good restaurants and bars, where you can enjoy the particularly beautiful sunsets with atmospheric music and a cocktail ("Sundowner"). No wonder that also the most famous actors and singers of Spain are often found here.
Playa Fuente del Gallo – Conil de la Frontera
North of Conil, at the foot of the urbanization Fuente de Gallo is also the beach Fuente del Gallo, well protected by the striking cliff. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast, is about 1 km long, 35 m wide and easily accessible via a staircase. It convinces with clear water, finest sand and impressive light shows at sunset. Water sports are only possible here to a limited extent.
Playa de la Fontanilla – Conil de la Frontera
The northern extension of Playa de los Bateles is Playa de la Fontanilla - the tourists' favorite beach. Showers, toilets and ample parking are available, as well as many bars and restaurants, including some of the best fish restaurants in Conil. Water sports are not available here.
Playa de Castilnovo – Conil de la Frontera
The 2 km long beach Playa Castilnova is located between Conil and El Palmar. Even in high season, the beach fills up little, so there are also many kite and windsurfers here. The only development is the 13th century tower Torre de Castilnovo, which gives the beach its name.
Calas de Quinto – Conil de la Frontera
North of Fuente del Gallo beach, there are some small coves that are grouped under the name of Calas de Quinto y Camacho, and are especially popular among nudists: Cala Melchor, Cala Pitones and Cala Sudario.
Due to the stony access, good footwear is recommended.
Playa El Roqueo – Conil de la Frontera
This beach is about a kilometer long, but it is so narrow and rocky that at high tide the beach almost disappears. To get to El Roqueo beach, drive out of the center of Conil in the direction of Fuente del Gallo.
Cala de Aceite – Conil de la Frontera
Close to the fishing port of Conil is this small idyllic bay with the finest sandy beach. The semicircular shape offers good wind protection.
